Golden Globes 2026 Highlights: One Battle After Another Dominates the Night
The 2026 Golden Globes have made it official: One Battle After Another is the film to beat this awards season. The show was ably hosted once again by Nikki Glaser, returning to the Globes after drawing rave reviews for her first hosting stint in 2025. Sunday’s event showered Paul Thomas Anderson’s muscular dramedy with the prizes for best drama picture, director, screenplay, and supporting actress, which went to Teyana Taylor. But Anderson’s star, Leonardo DiCaprio, was beaten in the comedy-lead-actor category by Timothée Chalamet, who won the prize for his kinetic work in Marty Supreme. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, meanwhile, had to content itself with the prize for cinematic and box office achievement; best drama went instead to Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet, an outcome that seemed to surprise even Zhao.

A Full Circle Moment In GapStudio for Claire Danes
Working the award show circuit has become a little less exotic for multi-decade vet Claire Danes than it once was, but getting ready is no less special for the Globes nominee. For one thing, she uses it as a chance to catch up with some of the dearest people in her life, bringing in the same artists who did her hair and makeup for her wedding to prep her for the show. This year, she even wore a dress by Zac Posen—whom she's known since they were teens.
“He is so brilliant and so warm and imaginative and optimistic, everything seems possible when you're talking to Zac,” she says, “and then he turns it into a reality.”
“It's really such a privilege to be in these longer conversations with designers and admire them and know them. We have a real intimacy,” she says. Of course, fittings with dear friends have more perks than just fashion: “It's also an excuse to gossip.”

Hamnet Reaches New Heights
Although One Battle retains its firm frontrunner status at the Oscars, Hamnet pulled off an upset over Sinners, which was Vanity Fair’s pick to claim best drama. (Can’t win the entire office pool, right?)
Here is what this upset means for the next phase of awards season—plus the Paul Mescal quote that filmmaker Chloé Zhao shared with Globes audience:
One Win After Another
Paul Thomas Anderson's magnum opus, One Battle After Another, continued its winning streak Sunday night, picking up four trophies at the Golden Globes and cementing its status as the front runner in the Oscar race. Here's how OBBA fared on Golden Globes night:
Chloé Zhao Told VF That She Wants Another Oscar
One of the most frank moments in Chloé Zhao's incredibly revealing interview with Michelle Ruiz, for this year's Hollywood issue, was when she said she would love another Oscar.
“I don't believe anyone,” she told Ruiz, “when they say they don't want it.”
It's feeling more & more likely…
