The Best-Dressed Stars at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards
Earlier tonight, a stylist friend texted me asking about the new look of the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet. “What is happening with this Met carpet!” he wrote, referencing how this year’s carpet at the Globes included a very glamorous—and familiar—staircase. It was a good look for the awards show, which has worked on making a comeback with this revamped build and returning host Nikki Glaser.
The red carpet started somewhat slowly and, dare I say, a little boringly. It was almost as if Hollywood was only beginning to stretch for what would be a long and starry awards season. To put it plainly, it took some time for the best-dressed stars of the Golden Globes 2026 to show up. And then came Teyana Taylor. The One Battle After Another star, who won tonight for best supporting actress in a film, revved things up with a custom Schiaparelli haute couture look designed by Daniel Roseberry. (In case you were curious, the brand is calling that backside detail Taylor showed onstage as she delivered her speech a “silver-rhinestone bijou thong.”)
It was a big night for black and black and white, as displayed by Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams in Giorgio Armani; recent Vanity Fair cover star Charli xcx in custom Saint Laurent, with the singer entering her movie-star era ahead of the release of The Moment later this month; and Selena Gomez in a stunning black Chanel dress designed by Matthieu Blazy and punctuated by a neckline full of feathery flowers. Those looks weren’t bland at all—thank the sartorial gods!—but they did say something about what it means to be a celebrity today: With TikToks, Instagram “dumps,” fan cams, and all the ways in which we now have access to actors and celebrities, a red carpet is no longer the place for a stunt, but the place to dress up and take on the role of the Old Hollywood movie star.
Speaking of going back to the classics—remember when men used to have fun on the red carpet? Those days are long gone, it seems. Guys these days—other than Timothée Chalamet and his Timberland boots—have fully reverted back to the classic tux, with slight (and welcome) variations. Michael B. Jordan looked fantastic in Prada, as did Tramell Tillman in Zegna. No complaints here; they did look like old-school leading men!
In the sea of black and white that was tonight’s red carpet—shout-out to Pamela Anderson, who styled herself in a white Ferragamo look—adding some color to our evening were Tessa Thompson in a delicious Balenciaga gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli and Elle Fanning in a floral Gucci moment by Demna. The biggest of shout-outs goes to Kylie Jenner, who skipped the red carpet and instead revealed her look on Instagram—and she did look good in custom Ashi Studio and tons of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.
We wanted to bring more of the fun back to the carpet, so we’re rethinking what a best-dressed list looks like at Vanity Fair. For starters, we’re being a bit more strict this year, and now you get to hear from our in-house fashion experts about why someone is, indeed, among the best-dressed. Also, dear reader, you get to vote for your favorites here: Is it a yes or a no? Tell us, and be sure to return tomorrow to see the results.
